The Red Baron
It's been a while, but I finally have access to a camera again, so expect a spate of posts as I work through the backlog of painted miniatures that has accumulated in the past six months. First up, Baron Manfred Von Richtofen's infamous bright red Fokker Dr.1.
This is a Revell 1/72 kit, built straight out of the box with no modifications other than the green stuffed pilot to fill the otherwise empty cockpit.
As usual with Revell products, it's very well moulded and engineered, but needlessly fiddly and rather delicate - especially the undercarriage.
The base is a large GW flying base, with the tip inserted into a hole drilled into the plane's belly - since I plan to play Wings of War/Glory with this (and other) planes, at some point the bases will get the appropriate markings.
To accompany the Fokker, I have an Albatros D.III under way, and some opposition in the form of a SPAD XIII and Sopwith Camel, all of which will feature on this blog soon.
Other upcoming miniatures include a couple of Blood Bowl teams, to accompany the pitch that was displayed in my previous post; an assortment of Lord of the Rings figures; more characters for my planned Dark Heresy campaign; and some dinosaurs (and dinosaur hunters).
Excellent work. This plane's a beauty !
